Welcome, today I declutter my closet and do a complete closet makeover! It’s time to show you my minimalist closet organisation. Including before and after, of course. So come join me and declutter with me!
I always do a declutter session at the end of summer, and at the end of winter. This is how I make sure my wardrobe stays minimal as I like it. This year however, I skipped the end of winter round, and now I regret it 🙂 Because I am not liking my wardrobe organization right now. So it’s time to do a good closet clearout, to make room for my favorites so they can shine.
When it comes to decluttering clothes, I always use the KonMari method from Marie Kondo. I take out all the items, I hold each item in my hand, and ask myself if it sparks joy. I also ask myself, is this useful? Because I believe that sometimes, certain clothes don’t spark joy for me, but I do get a lot of use out of them (like a yogapants, or a basic white shirt). So then, they can stay as well.
My minimalist wardrobe went from 50 to 36 items in this video (excluding pyajamas, underwear, shoes and accessories). But it does include all my clothing for all the seasons. So this is everything I own. And this is an amount that I feel good about and comfortable with.
Living a minimalist lifestyle, for me, definitely includes decluttering my wardrobe every now and then. It helps me to only own clothes that I love and I can wear with confidence. It’s one of the things that makes life so much easier. And if you ask me, that’s what minimalist living is really all about!
